So um,
turns out,
I'm not dead!
Maryland hasn't eaten us alive (Heather).
(though there have been close calls)
We go to bed at "normal" times, and still manage to not get up until 11am.
Lately, I don't know what time it is, what day it is, or even what month it is.
I just know when I'm tired, and thats when I sleep. And I only have a day and a half to get normal before everything gets screw up again - I leave for Europe on Wednesday afternoon.
Did you know that Maryland has the most number of trees per square mile
out of all the states in the US?
Like, whoa. There's a lot of trees around here.
I can't wait till their leaves start shooting out. Then the folks at our local gas station wont be able to see into our apartment anymore :)
It's not bad here. The town is old, and everything seems so spread out.
We really aren't sure what to think. It hasn't sunk in that
hey, we're in Maryland. We're on the complete
opposite
side of the US than we were 3 days ago.
We did a lot of extreme things in a extremely short amount of time.
Like:
-Flew 5,000 miles. Slept none in a 26 hour period. Along with that,
we ate nothing but plane food.
-Spent 4 hours at a car dealer, getting sucked into warranties. (And this was before we got any sleep. Like, this is included in the non-sleeping 26 hour period.) Bought our first brand spankin' new car. (We supposedly have the only Polished Metal 2011 Honda Fit in the entire state of Maryland.) We love it. It totally "FITS" us.
-Checked into our apartment (I kept saying, "It's not that bad...") (and, it really isn't)
-Got a little freaked out by the middle-aged men that hang out right in front our door/hallway
(one of them asked if we had a cig.
When I said, no sorry, he said, "Not even for a Canadian penny?"
Um, ya know, that's a really tempting offer but ....still, no. Sorry.)
-Changed buildings so we are closer to the leasing office and now are only on a 3 month contract; just enough time to scope out the area for a mo' betta place
-And now we got our first Maryland library card (not so extreme).
Adam says he's "gonna know this place like the back of [his] hand when [I] get back"
So we can know exactly where to start looking for our house :)
so exciting for you guys :)
ReplyDeletewhy does plane food have to be sooo gross??
take care and have fun in europe!!!
Hey Megan, not sure if you remember me from BYUH but My husband and I have been in DC since Jan. Good luck with Winter.... seriously it is brutal. Anyway, the Chevy Chase ward is really amazing. There are a lot of fun cool young couples who are working or attending graduate school so if you are looking for housing check out their ward. Another thing that will be helpful is getting on a listerv (if you haven't already) Always helpful on little jobs, fun things happening, and moving sales to help vamp up your living space)
